Pillar Kincardine Policy   -   Members' Contributions     Revised version adopted 9 February 2010

Members' Financial Contributions to Events, Outings and Activities

For details of charges/contributions see Schedule 1.

Pillar Kincardine asks members to contribute toward the costs of outings, events and activities that are part of its regular programme.

  • Where Pillar Kincardine has regular programmed events charges/contributions will be levied as per the matrix set out in Schedule 1. Programmed events may be added or deleted as the need arises during the year. All charges/contributions will be reviewed and agreed by the Board of Directors at their January meeting and any changes will be implemented as of the following 6 April each year.
  • Where Pillar Kincardine incurs particular costs in providing in-house activities - for example, the costs of bringing in a tutor or a speaker, or of obtaining craft materials - Pillar Kincardine will ask participants to make individual contributions that are calculated, when added together, to cover around 50% of the additional expenditure.
  • For meals out, eg at a cafe or restaurant, those members taking part will normally be asked to contribute around 50% of the average cost per head for the meal itself, plus the full cost of any drinks they may order individually to accompany the meal.
  • For trips to places and activities outwith Stonehaven, participants will be asked to contribute approximately 50% of the cost of any entry fees or ticket prices.
  • Where ticket prices or entry fees are relatively high (for example, outdoor theatre productions or the Braemar Gathering), staff will exercise discretion in setting the level of contribution. The amount expected from those taking part will however be set out clearly whenever the outing is publicised, and the names of those interested noted down by staff.
  • Members will NOT be asked to contribute toward the cost of providing minibus travel for any outing or event deemed to be a normal Pillar Kincardine activity, since the organisation currently receives a grant from Aberdeenshire Council specifically to cover the transport costs associated with such activities.
  • Pillar Kincardine may on occasion ask members to contribute in advance to an event. Refunds may be made to members who subsequently do not take part, but staff will consider each case on its merits. However, refunds will always be made where no overall financial loss has been incurred through the member's non-participation.
