The Pillar Approach to Active Recovery ...

Research has shown again and again the importance of good social networks in helping people reach and maintain positive mental health. Members of Pillar can choose from a range of groups and activities in conjunction with other community resources or facilities.

Each of our activities - including weekly drop-in sessions both in Stonehaven and Laurencekirk - provides people with opportunities to talk to and gain support and encouragement from one another and from our professional workers.

In this way people gain confidence and develop the social and emotional skills they need to overcome life's difficulties and build a better future for themselves and those around them.

... and Empowerment

Pillar Kincardine is also an organisation that is run by and for its members. We call the people who use our services members rather than users, as they are in fact company shareholders and have a direct say in running the organisation.

As a member you can make suggestions about future activities or raise general issues about the running of the organisation through the monthly Members' Forum. Once you have begun to know your way around the organisation you may even wish to stand for election as a member Director.
