Healthy microwave cooking

Pillar Kincardine is supporting individuals to gain knowledge and skills to prepare healthy meals simply using a microwave. The target group for these sessions are people who live alone, live in a cost-conscious household where ready meals form part of their staple diet, and have low confidence on the subject of meal planning and preparation.

The sessions will aim to:

  • present members with the opportunities to gain new skills and improve their confidence, which may empower them to prepare meals at home and thereby improve their health
  • present members with information about how to prepare fast, nutritious and simple meals for one
  • provide recipes for convenient alternatives to ready meals
  • supply information on how to use microwaves safely
  • promote a healthy life style
  • aid members in developing new interests

The sessions will take place during the Thursday Drop In, where qualified staff will offer support within a safe environment.
